The man who allegedly shot and killed a 17-year-old in the parking lot of Lynn Market Basket in June was arrested Tuesday, authorities said.

Adrian Pena, 18, is in U.S. Marshals Service custody in the Dominican Republic, Essex County District Attorney Paul Tucker’s office said in a statement.

Pena will be charged with fleeing in Miami and then charged with murder after being extradited to Massachusetts, Tucker said.

Lynn police found Kai Burgos suffering from a gunshot wound in a wrecked car on June 15. The vehicle had multiple bullet holes and crashed into a ravine, Boston.com previously reported.

“We look forward to pursuing this case to obtain justice and hopefully some peace for the family of Kai Burgos,” Tucker said. “The persistence and determination of law enforcement in this case is a testament to their dedication to finding a just outcome and keeping our community safe.”
