A Greek restaurant in Reading has proven successful enough to launch a new branch in Big Smoke.
The Tasty Greek Souvlaki, which opened in Reading city center shortly after the pandemic, is set to open another branch on Acton High Street in London.
History posts on social media show that the new restaurant ‘will soon open’ in Acton, and its exterior is finished.
Luftar Rusta, owner of Tasty Greek Souvlaki, said: “I got here by doing some very hard work.
“The one in London will be the same mix of food quality and passion as in Reading.

“The restaurant is bigger, so the menu gets bigger.
“We will be able to make lovely Greek cocktails and seafood, so there will be lovely shrimp, sea bass in a grill and fried calamari.”
The Acton restaurant has 63-65 seats for guests.
Sir. Rusta will manage the Reading and London websites itself.

A festive post on Facebook reads: “May 18 marked two long years of transplantation, hard work and patience. Our goal from the beginning was always to serve top quality Greek food with a good dining experience, and that has been the cornerstone of being able to keep the venture underway.
“We really want to reach out to all those who have believed in us from the start, to our staff and our customers, who have made us more than happy to serve and deliver the great dining experience we are constantly striving to deliver, many thank you very much!”
Tasty Greek Souvlaki makes special orders during the Orthodox Easter, which took place on Sunday, April 24th.
Subject to availability, the restaurant serves kokoretsi (fried lamb casings) upon request.
Sir. Rusta said the Orthodox Easter weekend this year “went very well.”
The ‘Easter special’ takes place on the Orthodox date, as it is when Greece celebrates the Christian holiday.
Tasty Greek Souvlaki added kodosouvli (skewered bbq pork), falafel and haloumi pita wraps and a haloumi club sandwich to the menu since its first anniversary.

Sir. Rusta also hopes to add new additions to the menu in Reading, including more salads, a veggie-pita wrap and ‘vegan gyros’.
A date has not yet been set for the opening, as work is to be done on the interior.
Rusta “I hope to establish more restaurants and make it a small chain for myself, starting with two to three restaurants and hopefully there will be more on the way.”
Acton High Street is located in the London Borough of Ealing.
The unit Tasty Greek Souvlaki has taken over what was once a ‘ChicKing’ fried chicken restaurant, which is believed to have opened in September 2017, but was closed in December 2020.
