City officials announced temporary lane closures on North DuSable Lake Shore Drive between Hollywood and Lawrence avenues from Sunday afternoon through Friday morning.
The closures are part of a road resurfacing project between LaSalle Drive and Hollywood that began in the spring and resumed Tuesday, Sept. 3. The Chicago Department of Transportation expects to complete the roadwork by the end of October.
Work that began at 3 p.m. Sunday on the northbound lanes between Hollywood and Lawrence and closed all entrance and exit ramps will reopen at 6 a.m. Monday. Officials are advising drivers to plan ahead and allow extra travel time for morning and evening commutes. Drivers are also asked to pay close attention to flaggers and construction signage, obey posted speed limits in work zones and be alert for workers and equipment.
Monday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., the northbound and southbound lanes between Hollywood and Lawrence on North DuSable Lake Shore Drive will be reduced to one lane each and all ramps will remain open. After that, all lanes and ramps along that stretch will be closed until 6 a.m. Tuesday. Only the northbound exit ramp and the southbound entrance ramp in Lawrence will remain open to detour traffic.

After that, all southbound lanes along that stretch, as well as the entrance and exit ramps, will be closed until 6 a.m. Wednesday. Only the southbound entrance ramp at Lawrence will remain open to detour traffic.
Wednesday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., only one northbound lane will be in operation between Hollywood and Lawrence on North DuSable Lake Shore Drive and all ramps will remain open. After that, all northbound lanes along that stretch, as well as the entrance and exit ramps, will be closed until 6 a.m. Thursday. Only the northbound exit ramp at Lawrence will remain open to detour traffic.
Thursday, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., only one southbound lane will be in service between Hollywood and Lawrence on North DuSable Lake Shore Drive and all ramps will remain open. After that, all southbound lanes along that stretch, as well as the entrance and exit ramps, will be closed until 6 a.m. Friday. Only the southbound entrance ramp at Lawrence will remain open to detour traffic.
