Tesla recalls nearly 700,000 vehicles due to problem with tire pressure monitoring system

Tesla is recalling nearly 700,000 vehicles due to a problem with the tire pressure monitoring system warning light.

According to a letter released Thursday by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the recall affects certain 2024 Cybertruck, 2017-2025 Model 3 and 2020-2025 Model Y vehicles.

The problem is that the tire pressure monitoring system light on vehicles may not stay on between driving cycles, failing to warn the driver of low tire pressure. Driving with poorly inflated tires can increase the risk of an accident.

The Elon Musk-led automaker said it would provide a free software update to fix the problem.

Notification letters to owners are expected to be mailed on February 15, 2025. Tesla customer service can be contacted at 1-877-798-3752 for more information. Individuals can also call the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 or visit their website at www.nhtsa.gov.
