1 Try out Rika Moon, Notting Hill

New fine-dining fusion restaurant, Rika Moon serves up Japanese cuisine and imaginative cocktails in a lush interior. With Chef Paul Greening (ex Novikov and Aqua Kyoto) helming the kitchen, expect to chow on the likes of wagyu tataki, Chilean seabass with foie gras miso, as well as a selection of nigiri sushi and sushi maki. Choose from the menu, or chose the Omakase and let the chef decide what he plates up.

2 Kintsugi Month at Pantechnicon, Belgravia

Throughout October, Pantechnicon, the sublime destination for all things Scandi and Japanese, is running a series of hands on Kintsugi workshops. Kintsugi is a sustainable art form, developed over 400 years and is the art of repairing broken ceramic ware. Try your hand at crafting something new and beautiful at a kintsugi pottery workshop, lead by artist Iku Nishkawa.

3 Autumn Decorative Fair, Battersea Park

Pick yourself up something unique and glorious at one of the best interiors fairs in London. A treasure trove of antiques and 20th century design, there’s a wealth of artworks, objects and things to covet. After you peruse, you can grab yourself a wine and something to eat at the fair’s restaurant Bacus.

4 Science Fiction: Voyage to the Edge of Imagination at the Science Museum, Kensington

The Science Museum’s latest exhibition opens this week. The immersive experience journeys through time and space to explores AI, aliens, new worlds, and the frontier of our own. It also looks at how scientists and science fiction creators built new worlds to better relate to Earth. Epic, right?

5 BFI London Film Festival

Immerse yourself in one of the best film festivals there is, when the BFI London Film Festival arrives in town. The programme is extensive and varied, so either get in quick to secure tickets to a flick you want, or play cinema roulette and take a chance on an unfamiliar title. Following the festival, films are available on BFI Player October 14-23.
