‘The World’s first’ dog-friendly cinema in Manchester, serving treats and showing dog-themed films

A cinema in Manchester that claims to be the world’s first dog-friendly venue has a day dedicated to dog-themed movies.

The 36-seat mini-cinema is part of the Ducie Street Warehouse complex and offers their ‘Pawpcorn’ screening every Monday, allowing dogs and their owners to attend dog-friendly movie screenings.

The shows are played with lower sounds and are better lit to take into account dogs’ sensitive hearing and make them as comfortable as possible so as not to overstimulate them.

The cinema has recently partnered with the premier pet store Dog Shop Manchester, which opened a few months ago in the Northern Quarter and sells dog accessories, toys, healthy treats and more.

Dog owners can now reserve a specially curated suitcase worth £ 25 from Dog Shop Manchester, which must be picked up on arrival at the Ducie Street Warehouse and purchased as part of a hotel stay.

This week, our sister site TeamDogs is holding its first ever Hero Dogs Week, backed by Everypaw Pet Insurance.

Aimed at shedding light on Britain’s incredible furry friends, this week-long celebration will focus on everyday heroes who have gone beyond helping their people – but we need your help to find them.

So whether your puppy is an emotional support animal that supports your mental health on a daily basis, a therapy dog that brings joy to hospital patients, or just a bundle of love and fluff that makes the whole family laugh on rainy days, send your photos and stories , so we can share the love.

To participate in your hero dog, simply post your dog’s picture and story on the TeamDogs Pictures of Dogs page.

The store prides itself on buying independent products from small businesses, and the suitcase consists of two meat treats provided by Hugo & Co, a biscuit package from Lola’s Little Bakery, a roll of compostable garbage bags supplied by Fetch it, detergent for one paw with cloth and a small soft toys or ball.

The team at Dog Shop has also chosen their favorite dog treats from independent brands to be available at the cafe counter on Ducie Street’s ground floor, where people can also buy coffee and treats from Gooey before taking them to the cinema to enjoy.
