MORGAN HILL — Three people died Sunday morning in two separate car crashes, prompting the Morgan Hill Police Department to warn people to drive carefully ahead of the holiday.
The first solo crash was reported at 3 a.m. Sunday and involved an overturned vehicle that collided with several trees and a fire hydrant along Third Street and Monterey Road. The driver of this vehicle was found dead on the spot, the police headquarters said in a press release.
A second unrelated collision occurred a few hours later, at 8:44 a.m., on Monterey Road near Middle Avenue. A preliminary investigation revealed that a driver of a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed northbound on Monterey Road lost control of their vehicle and collided with a vehicle traveling southbound. The drivers of both vehicles were pronounced dead at the scene.
“As the holiday season approaches, the Morgan Hill Police Department would like to remind all members of our community of the importance of driving safely during this festive time of year. Celebrations, gatherings and travel can bring joy, but they also bring increased risks on our roads,” the department said in a statement on Sunday.
