Three people were killed and six others injured in a shooting early Sunday morning in Philadelphia, authorities said.
The deceased victims were identified as a 33-year-old man, a 29-year-old man and a 23-year-old man. Five men aged 27 to 30 were injured as well as a 26-year-old woman.
Officers arrived at the scene around 2 a.m. in the Carroll Park neighborhood of West Philadelphia, authorities said. Investigators determined there had been “an exchange of gunfire between multiple parties” at an outdoor gathering.
Police found a weapon at the scene and recovered between 25 and 30 shell casings from several weapons. No suspects have been identified or arrested.
The 33-year-old man, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was shot at close range and likely targeted, Philadelphia police Detective D.F. Pace said.
Pace said police are looking to review surveillance video and interview witnesses. They estimate about 100 people were at the party.
Sunday morning’s shooting is the third deadly mass shooting at an outdoor party in Philadelphia this year, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. On July 4, Maurice Quann, 19, was killed at a “pop-up party” in the Kingsessing neighborhood, and eight other people, ages 14 to 24, were injured. No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.
On June 14, 17-year-old Isya Stanley was fatally shot at a similar party in the Fairmount Park neighborhood. Four other teens were injured in the shooting, and no arrests have been made.
Overall, however, homicides in Philadelphia are down 39 percent year-to-date compared to the same period last year, according to Philadelphia Police Department statistics.
