Trump makes emotional return after surviving assassination attempt

Former President Donald Trump made an emotional return to public view just two days after an assassination attempt at a rally in Pennsylvania.

Trump made his first public appearance since surviving an assassination attempt over the weekend at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, first appearing on the big screen as he walked down the tunnel to take his place at the event.

The crowd cheered loudly as Trump, who wore a bandage over the ear injured by a bullet on Saturday, walked to his seat.

The former president finally entered the arena to the sound of Lee Greenwood’s famous song, “God Bless the USA,” receiving a thunderous ovation from those in attendance.

Trump then took his seat to listen to remarks from various “ordinary Americans,” sometimes appearing emotional as the former president’s supporters explained why Americans should return him to the White House in 2025.

Despite the near-fatal shooting on Saturday, Trump had insisted that the convention go ahead as planned, arriving in Milwaukee on Sunday night and making his first public appearance just over two days after the assassination attempt.

Trump officially secured the Republican nomination Monday at the event, with the former president’s son and Florida delegation chairman Eric Trump pledging the delegates that put the former president over the top.

The former president also made his much-anticipated decision on his running mate, choosing Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance as his vice president.
