“I had excellent meetings with senators yesterday. I appreciate their thoughtful comments – and the incredible support from so many. While momentum was strong, it is clear that my confirmation was unfairly becoming a distraction of the critical work of the Trump/Vance transition There is no time to waste in a needlessly prolonged brawl in Washington, so I will withdraw my name from the nomination for Trump’s attorney general position which needs to be in place and ready. from day one.
“I remain fully committed to ensuring that Donald J. Trump is the most successful president in history. I will forever be honored that President Trump nominated me to lead the Department of Justice and am confident that He will save America.”
