Trump’s 17-year-old granddaughter Kai said it “broke her heart” when he was shot

Former President Donald Trump’s 17-year-old granddaughter took the stage at the Republican National Convention On Wednesday night, she shared a side of her grandfather that she says most people don’t see.

Kai is the daughter of Donald Trump Jr. and his ex-wife, Vanessa Trump. Kai said she invited her father to speak at the RNC Monday.

“The media makes my grandfather out to be a different person,” Kai said. “But I know him for who he is. He’s very caring and loving. He truly wants the best for this country. And he’s going to fight every day to make America great again.”

Kai said her grandfather always wanted to know how his grandchildren were doing in school, and when she made the honor roll, she printed it out to show her friends.

“He calls me in the middle of the day to ask how my golf game is going and tells me everything he’s doing,” Kai says. “But then I have to remind him that I’m at school and I’ll have to call him back later.”

If the two aren’t on the same team during a golf match, Kai says his grandfather will try to get inside his head.

“But I have to remind him that I’m also a Trump,” she said with a smile.

Kai, like her grandfather, is an avid golfer. She frequently posts photos of her golf games on Instagram.

But Kai also touched on more serious topics, referring to the criminal cases brought against his grandfather.

“Even when he’s dealing with all these court cases, he still asks me how I’m doing,” she said.

She said she was “shocked” to hear the news on Saturday that her grandfather had been shot at his rally in Pennsylvania. Trump’s injury was not serious, although he wore a bandage over his right ear on Wednesday.

“On Saturday, I was shocked to hear that he had been shot,” she said. “I just wanted to know if he was OK. It was heartbreaking that someone would do that to someone else. A lot of people put my grandfather through hell, and he’s still standing.”
