Two murder victims who were allegedly shot dead before being found in a burnt-out car in Sweden are British, according to local media.
Police have launched a double murder investigation after two people were found dead on Sunday afternoon in Malmö’s Fosie industrial area.
Responding to reports of a fire, emergency services only discovered the bodies as they were putting out the blaze, local media reported.
Rescuers at the scene reportedly noticed what may have been a bullet hole in one of the victims, they added.
Swedish media reported that both victims were British nationals and that at least one of them had been shot before the fire.
According to reports, the Britons had rented the Toyota Rav 4 from Copenhagen Airport in Denmark before it was found burned out at around 2pm local time in Malmo.
Local police are questioning witnesses and appealing for help from the public, while Interpol is also believed to be involved.
Swedish police said: “The two people found dead in a burnt-out car on Sunday afternoon have not yet been identified.
“The bodies are examined by forensic medicine.
“The incident is currently being investigated as a murder.
“Several witnesses have been interviewed and police are interested in further observations and information.”
