Two dead after light aircraft crashes into North Yorkshire field | UK News

Police and paramedics were called to a rural area of ​​Thorganby, near Selby, after a 999 call was received shortly before 10am on Sunday, and air crash investigators were informed.

Two men in their 20s have been killed after a light aircraft crashed into a field in North Yorkshire.

Emergency services were called to a rural area of ​​Thorganby, near Selby, on Sunday morning, police said.

The victims are believed to be the pilot and his passenger.

Their relatives have been informed.

Air crash investigators have also been called in to assist.

A statement from North Yorkshire Police said: “We were called to an incident involving a light aircraft in a rural area of ​​Thorganby, Selby, at around 9.50am today.

“A two-seater light aircraft with two occupants crashed in a field.

“Unfortunately, two men in their twenties, presumably the pilot and the passenger, were declared dead.

“Their relatives have been informed and formal identification procedures are currently underway.

“No other injuries have been reported.”

Police added: “We are currently working with the Air Accident Investigation Branch to launch a full investigation into the circumstances.

“Some roads remain closed as emergency services continue to deal with the incident.”
