Two men were arrested after shots were fired at a house.
Police were called to Springvale Close in Kirkby at around 10.50pm on Monday, June 6 where they found damage to the wall and door of the house, consistent with shots being fired. One person, who has lived nearby for more than 40 years, told the ECHO children often “play out” in the close.
They said: “Police are always around here. I’ve got grandkids and I’m scared to let them play in the street, there’s cars flying up and down all the time, it’s ridiculous.

“It used to be such a lovely place to live but over the years it’s gone worse, it’s gone downhill. There’s always something lately. Police are forever being called, if it’s not that close, it’s up the road a bit. I just keep myself to myself but it’s terrifying.
“I feel for the people bringing their kids up, you just don’t know what will happen. Kids play out here often on the streets, it’s sad.” There were no reports of anyone being injured and the offenders made off in a vehicle on the direction of Dagnall Road, according to police.

Following extensive enquiries, a 20-year-old man from Westvale, Kirkby was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage to a property yesterday, Thursday, June 16. He was taken into custody for questioning and has now been released under investigation, pending further enquiries.
