A stroller-pushing maniac who assaulted and spat on strangers in random attacks in Manhattan was sent to prison this week after confessing to the heinous attacks. One of his victims said: “He’s where he belongs.”
Larry Warshaw, a lawyer who was knocked out by Sam Mensah, 33, said he wasn’t surprised the maniac accepted a plea deal that sentenced him to five years in prison Thursday.
“Even he knew it was a done deal,” the 69-year-old victim told the Post. “He’s where he belongs. All the abuse happened with that poor toddler in the stroller.”
Warshaw was one of several victims — including at least five women — who were attacked by Mensah on the Upper East Side. The brazen psycho terrified residents for months by carrying out a violent, unprovoked attack while pushing a young boy in a black stroller.
Mensah’s crimes include knocking the lawyer unconscious, spitting in a reporter’s eye while she was walking her dog and pushing a helpless grandmother to the ground with such force that she scraped her knees and tore her clothes, prosecutors said.
“I lost consciousness and fell to the sidewalk. Luckily, my head didn’t hit the concrete,” Warshaw said, recalling the December 2022 attack.
Warshaw also criticized comments from Mensah’s attorney, Robert Loving, who said Mensah felt threatened and was simply acting in “self-defense” at the time of the attacks.
“The attorney’s pathetic claim that Mensah was acting to protect the baby is outrageous,” he said. “A sick and patently fabricated defense, easily contradicted by surveillance video that captured the entire event.”
Mensah’s attorney did not immediately respond to messages seeking comment.
His conviction came after he pleaded guilty to assault in July – a deal that derailed a trial over the rampage.
“Sam Mensah is being held accountable for his unprovoked attacks,” Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg said in a statement after the sentencing.
“New Yorkers deserve to be safe walking the streets of Manhattan. I hope today’s sentencing gives the victims a sense of peace as they continue to heal from their assaults.”
