Warmer, drier temperatures ahead after stormy day in Chicago area – NBC Chicago

Although most of September has been unseasonably warm and dry, the Chicago area saw cooler temperatures accompanied by thunderstorms earlier Tuesday, briefly triggering a tornado warning in parts of the region.

After a few wet days towards the end of a dry month, warmer temperatures and drier conditions are expected to return for a few days, bringing a pleasant end to the week.

High temperatures will likely hover between 70 and 75 degrees across much of the region for the remainder of the week, although temperatures are expected to be cooler near the Lake Michigan shoreline.

Although a dry day is expected across much of the region Wednesday, lingering lake-effect showers are possible in northwest Indiana overnight into early Wednesday morning.

Conditions are expected to remain dry through Friday evening, when precipitation in the far south Chicago area is possible before more rain risks emerge by the weekend.

High temperatures are expected to remain in the 70s through the weekend, although a chance of rain mid-next week could push highs down to the mid-60s.
