West Virginia’s Aubrey Burks carried off field on stretcher in scary moment

There was a scary moment in West Virginia when a defensive player was dragged off the field during a play he had no part in.

As the Mountaineers were about to punt after being stymied by the Kansas defense late in the second quarter, defensive end Aubrey Burks was on the sidelines being treated by the team’s medical and training staff.

He was eventually placed in a cervical collar and taken off the field on a stretcher.

ESPN reported that Burks was later taken to JW Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown with an unspecified injury.

It is unclear exactly when or how Burks suffered the injury.

Burks had a similar scare last year when he had to be put in a splint and taken off the field on a stretcher, in what he called one of the “scariest injuries I’ve had in my football career.”

He was hospitalised after lying motionless on the pitch for around eight minutes but returned to action after being out for just under a month.
