After a rather cool start to July, where temperatures were around 2°C below average, many of us welcomed a bit of summer warmth.
On Thursday, the temperature reached 28.1°C at Heathrow and the mercury rose well above 25°C, a level not seen since the heatwave at the end of June.
Friday will be sunny and very hot, even scorching, in parts of the south-east of England.
Heat health warnings are in force across the Midlands, East and South of England until 11am on Saturday.
These alerts are aimed primarily at health and social services, warning that the heat could impact older people and those with underlying health conditions.
The highest temperature recorded so far this year in the UK is 30.5C, recorded in Wisley, Surrey, on June 26.
