Who Will Perform at the DNC on Day 2? What We Know So Far – NBC Chicago

Who will perform at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago on Tuesday?

While organizers released a list of performers for Monday’s opening night, the list of expected musical guests was noticeably absent from Tuesday’s speaker list and schedule — but some big names are still expected.

Chicago rapper Common and R&B musician Patti LaBelle were both seen warming up at the United Center in Chicago on Tuesday, indicating that both are expected to perform for night two of the DNC.

Three performances were scheduled for Monday, but headliner James Taylor was canceled due to scheduling delays.

In addition to Common and LaBelle, there has been speculation that other big names could take the stage on Tuesday.

Musician John Legend is set to headline a private concert Tuesday night, but could he also perform at the convention itself?

Legend is scheduled to perform at a party hosted by Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker and First Lady MK Pritzker at the Salt Shed concert venue on Tuesday night, a performance that will follow the governor’s remarks at the DNC.

Legend was spotted by several reporters at the United Center before the evening’s rehearsals began.

The singer has been a vocal supporter of President Joe Biden’s administration, performing at his inauguration in 2021. He has also spoken out in support of Vice President Kamala Harris in recent days.

“She’s excited to see someone who’s black and Asian like her,” he said of his daughter, who admires the vice president.

Legend is also set to release a new children’s album titled “My Favorite Dream” later this month, produced by Sufjan Stevens.

The Killers are also expected to take a day off from their Las Vegas residency to play at a private party in Chicago for DNC guests.

While The Killers aren’t as vocal on political issues, frontman Brandon Flowers said he feels “less anxious” after Biden takes office in 2021. The band also recorded a song called “Land of the Free” in 2019, a response to the epidemic of gun violence in the United States.

Flowers also appeared with former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid at an event in 2012, according to CNN.

Grammy Award winner Jason Isbell performed on the convention’s first night, as did Grammy-nominated country star Mickey Guyton.

James Taylor was scheduled to perform, but organizers pulled the plug as the evening progressed on Monday.
