“Hacks” and “Shōgun” took home top honors at the 2024 Emmy Awards, with the best television programs honored Sunday night.
FX’s “The Bear” opened the night with 23 nominations, the most ever for a comedy series, and won best lead actor, best supporting actor and actress, and best comedy series. But it was HBO’s “Hacks” that took home the best comedy series award.
“Shōgun” was the most nominated series of all, with 25, and won major awards, including best drama. Hiroyuki Sanada and Anna Sawai won best actor and best actress in a drama series. In addition to the Creative Arts Emmy Awards, “Shōgun” garnered 18 Emmys in total for its first season, the most for a single season in Emmy history.
Sunday night’s festivities were the second Emmy Awards ceremony to be held in the 2024 calendar year, 75th Primetime Emmy Awards have been delayed until January of this year due to the 2023 writers’ and actors’ strikes.
The ceremony was hosted by father-son duo and “Schitt’s Creek” stars Dan and Eugene LevyIt was broadcast live on ABC from the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles.
