Chicago’s most famous hot dog stand, The Wieners Circle, was robbed for the second time early Monday, restaurateurs announced on social media.
The break-in took place around 3:30 a.m. at the Lincoln Park restaurant, known for its insults accompanied by hot dogs, and involved three or four suspects, police said. The group broke the glass door of the business and took what police said was a safe before leaving in a black SUV.
Wieners Circle management did not immediately respond to a request for comment Monday afternoon. The company did reach out to “hamburglars” and confirmed the break-in Monday morning with a joking post on X, formerly known as Twitter, referencing the 1988 film “Coming to America.”
“We hired a guy named Hakeem from Zumunda, come back and he will be forced to hit you with a mop handle if you come back,” the message read.
Police said no one was in custody and area detectives were investigating.
