The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory Thursday in effect from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., as officials expect wind gusts up to 50 mph.
The advisory covers parts of north-central and northwest Illinois where westerly winds are expected between 25 and 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph, officials said.
Authorities warned that gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects, including Halloween decorations and tree branches. Power outages may then occur.
Although windy conditions are expected on Thursday, there is also a chance of showers throughout the day. Temperatures are expected to reach the mid-60s before dropping to the low 50s, officials said.
Current morning conditions at O’Hare International Airport are light rain at 63 degrees. Farther south at Midway Airport, the sky is overcast at 64 degrees.
