The woman accused of illegally boarding a Delta flight from New York to Paris has been arrested again, this time while apparently trying to enter Canada.
Svetlana Dali had received a ankle monitor with GPS monitoring after his bail hearing in the stowaway case. He was ordered not to leave Philadelphia except to go to court, meet with his lawyer or attend pretrial services in New York. But Dali reportedly turned off her ankle monitor and was on a bus to Canada when she was arrested again, the New York Times reported.
The Buffalo FBI confirmed Monday that Dali was rearrested and detained in Buffalo. Dali was due to appear in court Tuesday afternoon.
Dali last month had sneaked onto a Delta flight without a boarding pass. Surveillance footage shows Dali at John F. Kennedy International Airport on November 26. According to a criminal complaint, Dali attempted to wait in line at the Transportation Security Administration checkpoint but was turned away because she could not show her boarding pass. Shortly after, she managed to sneak out after allegedly “entering through a special lane reserved for airline employees, masked by a large Air Europa crew.”
On December 4, the TSA noted: “This is the only reported case of unauthorized access as more than 18 million passengers were screened at TSA security checkpoints during the busiest travel season. loaded with Thanksgiving. No one has ever completely breached the TSA security screening process. “
Dali boarded a plane around 10 p.m. on November 26 without showing a boarding pass.
“Delta agents, who were busy assisting ticketed passengers, did not stop her or ask her to present a boarding pass before boarding the plane,” according to the complaint criminal.
Delta employees realized Dali was on the plane before it landed. They notified French law enforcement, who met Dali at the boarding gate of Charles de Gaulle airport on November 27. They determined that Dali had no passport or boarding pass and arrested her.
Dali returned to New York on December 4 and was subsequently arrested by American authorities. During an interview with the FBI, Dali admitted to hiding and intentionally eluding security officers and Delta employees, according to the criminal complaint.
She faces charges for obtaining transportation on an airplane without consent or authorization.
Dali is in the United States on a green card, according to a person familiar with the matter. The French Interior Ministry identified her as a Russian national.
