A viral video on TikTok has revealed how a Jack Russell dog rescued from the streets “tricked” his rescuer with an unexpected transformation.
When Garbonzo Bean was first found on the street, he was a sad and scared little dog. His rescuer, a dedicated member of the community organization Strays and Gays, couldn’t help but take him in.
“I rescued a sad little dog from the street, and he cheated on me,” she said in the text overlaid on the video. “At first he was so scared and pitiful. I named him Garbonzo Bean, and he really is a bean.”
It didn’t take long for the pup’s true personality to shine through, and in the viral TikTok video, his rescuer shared footage of him jumping and running with buckets of energy.
“It behaves like a little coffee bean,” the poster jokes in the video.
Strays and Gays is a community-based operation that shelters and finds homes for dogs in need in south Georgia.
His rescuer said: “He is definitely the most fashionable dog we have ever rescued!”
Newsweek contacted Strays and Gays by email for comment.
With over 650,000 views, comments have been pouring in from people who loved seeing Garbonzo Bean’s transformation.
“That’s Jack Russell energy!” said one commenter.
Jack Russell Terriers are high-energy dogs that need plenty of exercise, so it’s no surprise that young Garbonzo Bean is enjoying plenty of playtime now that he’s come out of his shell.
Another commenter said his transformation was likely a result of the sense of well-being he’s felt since being rescued.
“Now he is safe and happy, he can be his real little self,” they wrote.
Another viewer of the video was delighted to see the dog’s transformation.
“There is nothing like seeing a rescue dog come out of his shell over time. It is simply wonderful,” they wrote.
Garbonzo Bean joins a long list of adopted animals who have undergone incredible transformations after finding homes. Among them, a cat named Gucci, who had a serious “momentum” after being adopted, and a dog named Darcie, who went from shy pup to serious “talker” in just two weeks.
