Relatives of the construction worker killed in downtown Boston Friday are remembering him as his children’s “Superman,” a man who loved his family and took pride in his work.

Authorities identified the man as Barry Medeiros, 43, of Taunton.

Mederios was working next to Emerson Cutler’s Majestic Theater on Friday when he fell from scaffolding and died.

“Emerson College extends its deepest condolences to the loved ones of this individual and its heartfelt support to all who may have witnessed this tragedy,” Emerson College President Jay Bernhardt said in a statement.

Medeiros was born and raised in Taunton and loved the outdoors and philosophy, according to his obituary.

“Barry was especially happy when he was in the presence of his devoted family and creating memories with them,” his obituary read.

According to his obituary, the fellow union member for Laborers Local 721 worked at Fenway Park, Boston University and other historic sites.

“Barry was known for loving the sites he worked on,” it reads.

Mederios is survived by his mother, two children, his partner and other family members. His ex-partner and mother of his children, Melanie Banks, has launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for their children’s college education.

“Barry’s children are both pursuing college as first-generation students,” the GoFundMe said. “Instead of moving into their respective universities this week, both of his children are making final preparations and grieving the sudden and tragic loss of their ‘Superman.’”

As of Tuesday evening, the GoFundMe campaign had already raised about $2,600 of a $20,000 goal.
