Yellow thunderstorm warning issued for large parts of UK | UK News

Monday 29 July 2024 11:44, United Kingdom

A yellow weather warning for thunderstorms has been issued for much of the UK.

The Met Office warning covers most of southern England, the Midlands and northern England.

It comes into effect at midnight on Thursday and ends at 11:59 p.m.

“Heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected on Thursday and may cause disruption,” the Met Office said.

The move comes after yellow heat health warnings were issued across most of England by the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA).

Great Britain could experience its hottest day of the year as high temperatures lead to a possible official heatwave in the coming days, forecasters say.

London Temperatures could reach 32C by Tuesday, while other parts of the country will see temperatures four or five degrees warmer than average for this time in July, the Met Office said.
