Horrific moment teenager is stabbed in violent attack outside bus station

Horrific footage shows the moment a teenager was stabbed outside a bus station. The attack happened today, July 18, near Wigan bus station in the city centre. Emergency services arrived at the scene after receiving reports of a stabbing. Police, paramedics and an air ambulance were spotted. Two men have since been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

In the video, which has been widely shared on social media, the 19-year-old victim is seen lying on the ground as onlookers look on in horror. A figure is seen screaming and standing over the victim, grabbing him with one hand and raising a knife with the other, before repeatedly stabbing him, the Manchester Evening News reports.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed they were aware of the footage and have since arrested two men, aged 30 and 19, on suspicion of attempted murder. The victim was taken to hospital where his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. Several police vehicles blocked the main road while an air ambulance was seen landing nearby after the incident. Roads surrounding the market were also closed.

A GMP spokesman said: “Emergency services are responding to a stabbing on Market Street in Wigan this afternoon. A 19-year-old man suffered non-life-threatening injuries and has been taken to hospital for treatment. Two men, aged 30 and 19, have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. The scene remains at the scene while officers carry out their enquiries.”

Inspector Sam Davies, from GMP Wigan District, said: “Officers responded immediately to the scene and pursued the offenders. Both suspects remain in our custody and a knife has been recovered. Another of our officers administered first aid to the victim, who was taken to hospital for treatment. While the incident will undoubtedly cause concern, I want to highlight the positive response we have made and reassure the public that we treat incidents of this nature with the utmost seriousness.

“This appears to be an isolated incident and there is no indication of any wider risk to the community. The public should expect an increased police presence in the area as a measure of reassurance. GMP’s commitment to tackling knife crime remains a priority, and we will continue to work alongside our partners to identify those involved, provide preventative advice and ensure those carrying and using weapons are brought to justice.

“One person injured with a knife is already too many. Within the police, we are doing proactive and educational work to help get knives off the streets.”
