Nigel Farage slams BBC stars for ‘inciting violence’ as Donald Trump shot dead at rally: ‘TOO MUCH of this!’

Nigel Farage has hit out at the BBC’s Jo Brand and David Aaronovitch following an assassination attempt on Donald Trump.

The GB News star said the couple were guilty of advocating political violence after posting jokes about him and Donald Trump.

Farage said he was “devastated” by the assassination attempt on the former president, which left him bloodied and dragged from the scene by the secret service.

But he was quick to blame the shocking event on a media “narrative” which he said contributed greatly to its emergence.

“I fear that the narrative that is circulating about Donald Trump is simply dangerous and damaging,” he said.

“We’ve seen it in British politics. There are extremists and terrorists at both ends of the spectrum.

“What we have seen through mainstream media and social media is millions of people turning to hate.

“I have to tell you that we are not that far behind in this country.”

Speaking about his personal experiences of public outcry, Farage recalled a recent moment that had not been made public.

“The last time someone threw a glass at me was last Wednesday,” he said.

“Sometimes you see it in broad daylight, I don’t normally talk about it. It’s incredible. In the 2019 European elections, someone threw a milkshake in my face and Jo Brand said, ‘Why waste your time on that? It’s better to use battery acid’, and she’s still on the BBC.

“We had David Aaronovitch saying that Democrats should take down Trump.

“He still works for the Times and the BBC. There are too many of them. It’s acceptable to say violent things about right-wing people.

“If I said anything similar about anyone in the Labour Party I would be thrown out of the House of Commons within 24 hours.

“We need to rethink the situation. Certainly, negative comments have been made on both sides. But the role of the mainstream media has a lot to do with it.”

A few weeks ago, Aaronovitch joked that Democrats would benefit from seeing Trump killed.

In 2019, comedian Jo Brand joked about a milkshake thrown at Nigel Farage, saying it should have been battery acid.

GB News has contacted the BBC for comment.

The former president was seen grimacing and reaching his right hand to the side of his head, before blood appeared on his face.

He ducked and was surrounded by Secret Service agents, before standing up and raising his fist in the air, to cheers from the crowd.

The FBI identified Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, as the shooter.

The motive has not yet been identified, but authorities are treating the shooting as an assassination attempt.
